I am a 21-year-old university student. I think that many of my talents have to do with being able to pay close attention to details and being motivated to make things better. I have a lot of experience with video game culture and have been working first-hand with similar business concepts for the last three and a half years. I aspire to be someone that finds a way to open closed doors for gaming communities. Whether that be by finding a way to host in-person tournaments, or finding a way to make improvement more affordable, I think that all people should have a chance to show off their skills. I see this business playing a huge role in my life because it is something that I have been interested in doing for a long time. I think that there are not a lot of people with my background interested in not only the games I like but the games that other people want to see. I try my hardest to be unbiased and I have a personal stake in helping others be heard.
2) What are you offering to customers?
The service that I am offering is low-cost, affordable, much cheaper than the market-price rental of equipment and games to customers that want to experience gaming but do not have the time or money to dedicate to high-quality systems.
3) Who are you offering it to?
I am offering this to all people interested in gaming but I think that there are multiple markets. First, older people who want to experience games and have the money but do not want to commit to making a large purchase or having equipment take up space in their house. My second market is college students and young adults who want to play with their friends but cannot afford to buy the equipment. All of my customers have the desire to play video games on high-quality equipment at a low cost.
4) Why do they care?
Customers would pay to use my service because I will not only be providing a product but also a service. They can choose to rent for private gatherings or they can choose to rent in a comfortable setting. They will be able to afford it and they will not have to worry about whether or not they wasted their money because they will have the option to swap games until they find one they like. Many people want to have this experience but don't want to deal with how long and annoying it is to rent from other providers. Simplicity will make this product worth it.
5) What are your core competencies?
I am different from everyone else because I understand the hesitancies that come with renting equipment. I have an understanding of advertising because I have been working on social media for student organizations in the last couple of years. I know why someone would choose not to use this service so I can show them the reasons why they should. I have what nobody else has because I can see trends but I also understand the importance of having many different opportunities. Sometimes, this means not jumping ship of certain games just because it is popular to dislike them. I understand that there will still be people who want to experience something and will enjoy it even if everyone around them is telling them not to. I am not ashamed to provide opportunities for all different types of people, even if it is not popular to do so!
I believe that these five elements fit together in my business concept because they all play a role in whether or not I will be successful. Although I am unique in some ways, I realize that I have to be similar to my core audience in some aspects to see what they would like and what they would not like. I am willing to steer off of the most popular path but I am also interested in seeing the appeal of things that are popular. My business concept is not particularly innovative because many people have attempted it recently and many will try the same things that I do. However, I think that it is important to keep in mind how much motivation I have and the experience that can help me to achieve my goals. It is all about doing better than the other services because I am able to see the mistakes they have made and why they have made them. Looking for these solutions will help me to provide a service that my target demographic will look forward to experiencing.
